A Key Sector in the Region of Andalusia

Andalusia is the only Spanish region where component manufacture and aircraft assembly have always existed. It is important to mention participation in modern-day programs such as the largest passenger aircraft in the world, AIRBUS A380, or the future A350 and the new military aircraft A400M.
Very traditional and strategic sector with high future perspectives in the region. Andalusia has become the second Spanish region and one of the main European regions in the aeronautical industry.

Andalusia’s aeronautical industry is currently participating in two large aeronautical projects:Construction of part of the Airbus A380 in Cadiz and assembly of the military Airbus A400M in Seville.
The aeronautical industry has been a tradition for over one hundred years in Andalusia. It is a consolidated industry both nationally and internationally whose income was over 1.5 billion Euros in 2009. It has created more than 1200 jobs and registered an increase of 8.8 and 16.3%, respectively.

Andalusia’s aeronautical network comprises 130 companies mainly located between Seville and Cadiz, including prime contractors such as EADS, Alestis, Aernnova, Grupo Aciturri, General Dynamics. The Fundación Hélice, the Andalusian Aerospace Cluster, joins together companies from the sector that are currently focused on the international diversification of both clients and products and whose driving force is Airbus and Airbus Military.
A change in trend is evident in Andalusia’s aeronautical network, where business alliances are based on the use of synergies and the search for levels of competitiveness that allow companies to participate in the best projects on an equal footing with their national and international competitors. The case of the new business group, Alestis Aerospace, which has established itself under Tier 1, with offices in Andalusia, is notable.
